Dunga Field

Dunga oil field

The Dunga Oil Field is located in the South Mangyshlak basin in close proximity to the coast of the Caspian Sea approximately 50 km north of the city of Aktau and administratively forms a part of Tupkaraganskiy district of Mangystau oblast. Uzen-Atyrau-Samara oil trunk pipeline runs in 50km of the field.

The structure was explored by regional seismic activities in 1953 and elaborated in 1965. Exploratory drilling was started in 1966. The field was opened in 1969.

According to Exploration details, the reserves are 55.795 million tonnes of oil and 3.487 billion m3 of associated gas

Partnership shares in the Project:

  • Oman Oil Company Limited (Oman) - 20 %;
  • Partex Kazakhstan Corporation (Portugal) - 20 %;
  • “Maersk Oil Kazakhstan GmbH” (Denmark) - 60 %
